Baking Industry Awards 2020: Enter Now

It’s that time of year again! Entries for the Baking Industry Awards 2020 are now open.

For those who may not be familiar, the Baking Industry Awards celebrate innovation and achievement, recognising excellence in the UK bakery market – and we know from experience there are an incredible amount of talented cake decorating businesses out there.

Renshaw is delighted to its continue sponsorship of the Celebration Cake Business of the Year; we are now in our 16^th year of supporting this prestigious award. It is testimony to the industry that standards improve and evolve every year, and we are proud of all the entrants that we receive.

Could you be this year’s winner? You do not need to be a Renshaw customer to enter.

We are looking for entrants that are confident and have the ability to demonstrate how they are successfully growing their business; through use of new techniques, trends and innovation.This year we are looking for entrants that can demonstrate their cake skills at a commercial level; how can you make a celebration cake that hits a specific selling price?

The entries can follow any celebration category for any event – e.g. birthdays or weddings – but it must meet the theme of the 2020 awards.

“We are looking forward to seeing this year’s entrants, showcasing not only their cake making skills, but how they can make these a commercial success,” says Steve Moon – MD of Renshaw.

Here’s what’s involved:

THE PROCESS

You’ll need to register on the Baking Industry Awards website to get started, and complete the entry form there. For the written entry, judges will be looking for cake artistry, awareness of current trends, customer service, marketing initiatives, and for entrants to show why the business is successful and progressive.

A shortlist of semi-finalists will be selected from all the entrants, and these entrants will be tasked with creating a cake with a specific theme and including set criteria. This cake will account for 1/3 of the total score given to the business, with the rest of the score being awarded based on the written entry and an interview. Judges will view and score the cake at the entrant’s premises, in a change from previous years.

Once the judging has occurred, 3 finalists will be invited to the Awards Evening on 9th September 2020, and of course, one lucky winner will walk away with the award!
