Baking Industry Awards 2018

The Baking Industry Awards are back, and for the 14th year running Renshaw are proud to be sponsoring Celebration Cake Business of the Year!

Each year the Baking Industry Awards celebrate innovation, achievement and excellence at all levels across the UK bakery market.

The Celebration Cake Business of the Year award gives entrants a great opportunity to showcase their business and creative cake decorating skills. Semi-finalists are also given a practical cake decorating task – this year it’s an Oceanic theme! Previous years themes have been ‘Wild West’ and ‘Moulin Rouge’, as you can see from the photos below.

How to apply & judging process

First stage

Applications for the awards should initially be made through the Baking Industry Awards website.

You will need to register an account and complete and upload the relevant information.

Entries are initially judged on:

• examples of past work,
• business model,
• training,
• future business plans.

The deadline for entries is Tuesday 8th May.

Semi-finalists

Semi-finalists are given the details and deadline for the practical cake decorating task, which will be in the Oceanic theme. They are also invited to the Renshaw Academy for a ‘live judging’ day, where they are asked to complete a final element on their piece, as well as cover and stack prepared cakes to be tasted by the judges.

The ‘live judging’ day also includes a visit to the Renshaw factory to find out how our sugarpaste, marzipan and more are made. It’s also a great opportunity to meet and network with other cake decorating business owners.

Renshaw will provide coverage of the semi-final day on our website and social media.

Finalists

Three finalists are invited to the Baking Industry Awards evening, where the winner will be announced on the night. Renshaw will also feature the finalists and their Oceanic themed pieces on our website and social.

The Judges

Judges will be confirmed shortly, but each year we invite independent judges from the industry to choose the finalists, and these will be in attendance on the semi-final day at Renshaw Academy.

The Prize

The winner will receive the prestigious title of Celebration Cake Business of the Year 2018! This can be promoted in your business communications going forwards.

As well as that, the winner will receive a prize worth £1000 – £750 cash and £250 worth of Renshaw products.

In 2017, Terry Tang Designer Cakes took the title. Will it be you this year?
