The Great Renshaw Bake Off Week Two – The Results

Monday 18th August 2014

With week two of the Great Renshaw Bake Off complete it’s time to have a look at the entries we received and announce the winner of our beach themed cake pops competition.

This week’s judge was Elizabeth Solaru of Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium. Elizabeth’s cakes are renowned for their beauty and skill, having been featured in Wedding Magazine, Conde Nast Brides and OK! and many other publications. Elizabeth has also featured on BBC Good Food Channel and on BBC Radio as a cake expert and she’s become a highly regarded guest speaker and competition judge. So the entries were under intense scrutiny this week.

Again, we were inundated with wonderfully creative cake pops for our beach theme so a big thank you to everyone. But there can be only one winner.

The Winner

challenge2 winner

Elizabeth chose this beautiful and eye catching Punch And Judy cake pop selection from Amy Boucher. Of all the entries Elizabeth felt that this was the most theme appropriate, conjuring up images and memories of childhood summer days at the beach. Amy’s entry was also the most creative approach to the theme and the time and effort to sculpt the tiny figurines is also impressive. Congratulations to Amy who wins the prize of a £25 Renshaw Baking gift voucher.

Notable Mentions

Because we had so many great entries, Elizabeth also chose the following cake pops for a special mention.

Challenge 2 Noteworthy

Natasha Fairclough’s ice cream cake pops were singled out for their excellent finish and the detail on the cone portion of the cake pop. The addition of sprinkles adds a lovely splash of colour keeping a summery feel to them.

 Challenge 2 noteworthy 2

This stunning selection of cake pops from Aleksandara Sztajgli definitely deserved to be highlighted thanks to its incredible colour choices. Aleksandara’s sugar crafting is also superb with the tiny ice lollies, starfish and boat being particularly eye-catching.

A big thank you to Elizabeth for taking the time to judge all the entries from what was a great selection of cake pops, and congratulations to the winner Amy Boucher.

Get ready for the third challenge, which will be announced on our blog shortly.
