We hope you’ve been keeping up to date with developments on the Great British Bake Off. The skills on display have been incredible, and we’ve been longing for smell-o-vision to enhance the viewing experience, are you listening technology giants?
This week we want to see your cake pop making skills. Because it’s that time of year we’ve decided we want you to make cake pops with a beach theme. So think beach balls, shells, starfish and anything else that relates to a day at the beach.
If you’re new to cake pops we’ve created a pdf guide to help you.
The key to making a successful round cake pop is rolling the balls. It takes patience and a gentle but firm hand to shape your balls up, but the pleasure you’ll get when you see them sitting in the palm of your hand is well worth the effort.
But we aren’t going to be judging you on the shape of your cake pops. We want to see how you decorate them. Will you use icing, dip them in chocolate or other coating, use sprinkles? It’s all up to you but just remember that how you decorate needs to tie back to the beach theme.
We’ll be judging you on the following criteria:
So what are you waiting for? Get making your cake pops now.
As before to enter the competition just tweet a picture of your beach-themed cake pops using the hashtag #renshawbakeoff or upload it to our Facebook page. The winner will receive a £25 voucher to spend at renshawbanking.com.
If you’re looking for some inspiration how about these delicious cake pops made by Elizabeth Davies for the Great British Bake Off.
Elizabeth did a fantastic job of decorating these. They almost look like sticks of rock you could suck on while strolling down the beach. But we think these moist balls would melt in the mouth a little quicker than a stiff stick of rock.
This time we’ve got Elizabeth Solaru casting her careful eye over your cake pops so make sure you pull out all the stops if you’re hoping to impress.
