So here we are. The Great Renshaw Bake Off has come to a close, and now the dust has settled we can announce the winner of our grand finale. We gave you free rein this time out so we were expecting some great entries and you didn’t disappoint.
Ruth Clemens of the Pink Whisk was our judge for the final. As the runner-up in the original Great British Bake Off, Ruth knows a thing or two about pulling out all the stops to impress a judge but even she was bowled over by your efforts.
The Winner
With a 150 cakes submitted it was no easy task for Ruth to decide on a winner, but she finally chose this incredible pig cake by Claire Goldup. “It was difficult to choose my winner,” said Ruth. “But for me the winner was Claire’s Pig Cake. The detail and finish are just amazing! A huge amount of technical work, creativity and artistic ability has gone into the Pig. I love him.”
Congratulations Claire, not only do you receive kudos from winning the final but you also receive a £150 Renshaw Baking voucher!
Notable Mentions
Ruth also chose a couple of other entries which she felt deserved to be singled out for some praise.
“This cake from Julie Cains Cakes looks flawless. The colour scheme is striking and it would definitely impress!”
“The Winnie The Pooh cake from Emmazing Bakes was also great. I loved all the elements and techniques that went into this cake, especially the hand painting.”
Congratulations to Claire once again on her winning cake and a big thank you to Ruth Clemens for taking on the difficult job of judging the final.
So that’s it for another year. We look forward to seeing you all again next year for the Great Renshaw Bake Off 2015 and in the meantime be sure to tune into the climax of the Great British Bake Off. We can’t wait to see who comes out on top!
