Sad as we are that Christmas is over and leave the year behind, here at Renshaw HQ we have had a great year creating cakes and developing recipes for your delectation and inspiration. Seasonal bakes and great occasion cakes have marked each and every month of the year, so before we look forward to everything 2014 has to bring, here are our favourite creations from 2013.
Easy to create and as colourful as the icing you can get your hands on, our Rainbow Heart Cake has been a firm favourite with our fans and followers throughout the year. Perfect for Valentine’s Day and other such loved up occasions.
Simple cutter created butterflies, making use of our Flower and Modelling Paste, and decorated with colourful blossoms and silver pearls, these would make a great Mother’s Day gift or centrepiece for a baby shower.
A unique take on a Christening Cake, this challenging cake creation is one of the show stoppers on our site, and always elicits questions on how to create the towel effect. Stippling the icing with a clean nail brush is the answer!
The Coronation festival was one of the highlights of our year, providing us with the opportunity to meet the Queen as a Royal Warrant holder for our almond based products. This Union Jack cake was the perfect celebration.
Wedding season took over throughout the summer, and this four-tier, elegant Vintage Flower Cake design was our favourite recipe created for the occasion. Hand-modelled flowers and intricately piped royal icing detail was worth taking the time over.
September brought us national Cupcake Week, and the chance to show off our Chocolate Snip and Swirl in this fun hamburger cupcake. Simply cut your sponge in half and sandwich with frosting and a slick of green icing. Easy!
A great autumn flavour and fairly easy to create, these delicious cupcakes topped with orange ready to roll icing and hand painted detail with edible food colouring made for a fantastic addition to the Halloween party table, and a fab gift for trick or treaters.
Almond and chocolate are a great flavour pairing, so when we happened upon this chocolate and marzipan combo in recreating the traditional yule log, we were very happy indeed. Great for the festive season, especially for those not too fond of fruit cake!
Our fun take on a Christmas cake, our Disco Ball bedecked cake was a dazzling alternative to the traditional Santa and Snowman scenes usually found atop the traditional Christmas cake, though could easily lose the snow flakes for any special occasion.
A top trend for December 2013, gingerbread houses were the must bake Christmas item. Our simple take, complete with chocolate icing roof tiles was the perfect size and shapes for people tackling their first gingerbread house.
Here’s to more amazing cake creations in 2014!
