Decorating Instructions:
Step 1
When your cupcakes are baked and cooled, create a small hole in the centre of each cupcake and fill with raspberry jam.
Step 2
Pipe a bulb of buttercream on each of the cupcakes. This is to form the rounded shape.
Step 3
Knead the white icing until pliable. Pin out on a clean dry surface, lightly dusted with icing sugar. Cut out a circle slightly bigger than the top of the cupcake and use the same cutter to indent a mouth shape. Place the circle over the buttercream bulb, being careful not to press down too hard, and try to retain the curved shape.
Step 4
To make the hat, knead the green icing until pliable. Pin out on a clean dry surface, lightly dusted with icing sugar. Cut out a circle the same size as before and using the same cutter, cut out a crescent shape for the top of the hat. Stick in position on the white icing with cooled boiled water.
Step 5
To make the rim of the hat, take a small piece of the green icing and roll into a ball and then into a sausage shape, then flatten down slightly and place over the inside edge of the hat. Trim to size and stick with cooled boiled water. Make ridge marks to give the effect of the textured hat.
Step 6
To make the bobble, take a small piece of the green icing and mould it into a ball and then a pear shape. Stick to the top of the hat with a little cooled boiled water. Take a smaller piece of icing, mould into a ball and then a sausage shape, flatten down and try to make it quite thin. Roll it up, keeping it as straight as possible, stick this to the thin end of the bobble base.
Step 7
To make the nose, take a very small piece of the orange icing, knead it until pliable and mould into a ball and then a carrot shape. Make a small hole in the white icing and stick the wide end of the nose into the hole.
Step 8
For the eyes, take a very small piece of black icing, knead it until pliable and mould into a ball, cut it in 2 and again mould into a ball. Stick this into position on the face and press down to flatten.
Step 9
To finish add a blush of pink for the cheeks and some sparkle for the hat.
Step 10
Change the colour of the hats to make a colourful collection of snowmen.
