Rugby World Cup Shirt Biscuits

Baking ingredients

  • 125 g butter or margarine
  • 55 g caster sugar
  • 180 g plain flour – sieved

Decorating ingredients

  • 250 g Renshaw Poppy Red Ready to Roll Icing (for the England shirt)
  • 250 g Renshaw White Ready to Roll Icing (for the England shirt)
  • 250 g Renshaw Yellow Ready to Roll Icing (for the Australia shirt)
  • Apricot jam (for the England Shirt)
  • Green food colouring (for the England Shirt)
  • Green food colouring (for the Australia Shirt)
  • Black food colouring (for the Australia Shirt)
  • Apricot jam - warmed (for the Australia Shirt)

Instructions

Equipment:

Step 1

T-shirt cookie cutter, rolling pin, knife, icing sugar shaker, small star plunger cutter, small blossom plunger cutter, water brush, small thin brush, Dresden tool, cutting wheel tool.

Baking Instructions:

Step 2

Heat the oven to 190°C/375°F/gas mark 5.

Step 3

Knead the dough lightly and roll out to the desired thickness.

Step 4

Remove from the oven and leave to cool on a cooling rack for 30 minutes.

Decorating Instructions - England Shirt:

Step 5

Brush the top of the biscuits with warmed apricot jam.

Step 6

Put the hem markings on the shirt with the Cutting Wheel Tool. Add a few crease markings with the Dresden Tool to create the look of movement.

Step 7

Using the green food colouring, paint the stem and leaves on the base of the flower.

Step 8

Tip: You can use edible pens instead of food colours.

Decorating Instructions - Australia Shirt:

Step 9

Place the shape onto the biscuit base and smooth down with a smoother.

Step 10

Using the star plunger cutter cut out a star. Set to one side for a moment.
