Neon Octopus

Our Neon Ready-to-Roll Icing Multipacks have been refreshed for 2020, with brand new packaging and a brand new colour included in the pack (black).

To celebrate, we’ve got a recipe for this bright, cheerful cupcake, which uses all the Neon colours, as well as our lush Vanilla Frosting. This smiley little creature is sure to put an equally wide grin on the face of anyone who eats it.

Instructions

Prepare your equipment:

Step 1

You will need; Cooled boiled water, fine brush, spoon, rolling pin, icing sugar, knife, circle cutter, cocktail stick, and straw with one end cut into the shape of a smile. NOTE: All decorations are attached to the cupcake with water.

Making the sea background:

Step 2

Mix the Vanilla Frosting with a spoon. Mask the top of the cupcake with a thin layer of Vanilla Frosting using the back of the spoon.

Step 3

On a clean dry surface knead Turquoise Icing until pliable. Dust the work surface with icing sugar and pin out the Turquoise Icing to 2-3 mm thick.

Step 4

Cut 1 large circle and use to cover the cupcake.

Making the octopus:

Step 5

For the legs, knead the Yellow Icing until pliable and shape into double tapered sausages. Cut each in half and attach the legs to the cupcake shaping as you go. When all are attached press in the middle to create a recess for the head to sit.

Step 6

For the head, shape a large ball of Yellow Icing. Press in the eye sockets using the end of the paintbrush. Add the smile using the straw.

Step 7

For the eyes, shape 2 tiny balls of Black Icing and attach to the head. Use the cocktail stick to mark the eyebrows. Attach the head to the legs.

Step 8

Shape tiny dots of Tiger Orange and Fuchsia Icing for spots and attach to the head and legs.
