Ready to Roll Icing and Renshaw Extra; What’s the difference and which one should I choose?

Thursday 2nd November 2017

You might have heard of Renshaw Extra, it’s been our go-to sugar paste in Europe for a number of years because it performs so well in warmer climates. It’s also a firm and stretchy product which makes it ideal for covering deeper cakes and achieving sharp edges.

And that’s exactly why we’ve decided to bring our Extra product to the UK, too! Deep cakes and sharp edges are incredibly popular cake decorating trends, from wedding cakes to tall and stylish birthday cakes, and let’s not forget this year’s must-have design…the Unicorn cake!

Renshaw Extra is a great product for achieving these popular trends, and has a satin-like finish which is ideal for those special celebration cakes. But it’s not just tall, deep cakes you can use Extra for. You’ll find that it performs really well for sculpted novelty cakes too, like a life-size pug cake (or another animal of your choice!).

But with the addition of new products to our range in the UK, we understand that it can get a little confusing about which product would be best for what you’re making, especially if you’re used to using Ready to Roll Icing. So, we hope the following information will help you make the right choice.

Should I choose Renshaw Extra or Ready to Roll Icing?

We hope you enjoy our new products. Don’t forget to share what you’ve been making with us over on our social pages, we love to see your creations.
