Celebrating 120 Years of Renshaw

2018 is a big year for Renshaw, it marks 120 years since we were established in 1898. Can you believe that, a whole 120 years of making and perfecting our Marzipan and Ready to Roll Icing (among many other products) to cover the nation’s cakes!

The Early Years

The company began life as JF Renshaw & Co Ltd. with premises in London, then production moved to Liverpool in 1991 when Renshaw merged with Liverpool-based manufacturer Allmey & Layfield, and we’ve been here ever since, priding ourselves on having a predominantly local workforce.

Marzipan was the first product to be made by Renshaw, and it’s still a popular product today across the UK and Europe. The popular rumour in our factory walls is that the first batch of marzipan was created in a bathtub, but we can neither confirm nor deny this amusing anecdote!

We’re also proud to have been granted a Royal Warrant in 1950, something we still hold, for the supply of our quality almond products.

An International Brand

Our international exports began as early as the 1930’s but now we’re well established overseas with our Renshaw Americas, Renshaw Europe and Renshaw Australasia brands. We’re associated with a brilliant group of cake artists across the Americas who constantly amaze us with their sugarcraft creations, and help to teach other cake enthusiasts some brilliant cake skills. For our 120th year, we’ll be celebrating our wide range of products like our new range of pastes with plenty of recipes, blogs, tutorials and videos to inspire and help with your sugarcraft projects and homemade bakes.

We’ll also be giving you the chance to get your hands on our new Belgian Chocolate Modelling Paste, Renshaw Extra, Ready to Roll Icing and Marzipan in competitions throughout the year, so keep an eye on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
