Cake Masters Royal Wedding Competition- The winners

Friday 18th May 2018

The Royal Wedding is this weekend, Eek! To celebrate, Cake Masters launched a competition with us last month, challenging anyone to make a Royal Wedding cake for HRH Prince Harry’s wedding to Ms Markle. The prize included a year’s supply of Renshaw Extra, featuring on the front cover of Cake Masters magazine and a huge £1000. The winner of this competition was Natasha Brown from Brown’s Cakes in Greater Manchester. The 1st and 2nd runners-up also received prizes, below are the cakes which placed in the top three!

Winner – Brown’s Cakes

Natasha Brown- Brown’s Cakes

This Greater Manchester based cake artist went for a pretty cake design and individual models of members of the Royal family. We love the overall design and Natasha is a deserving winner. The attention to detail in this cake is outstanding, from the gold detailing on Prince Phillip’s and Prince Charles’ jackets to the individual cascading flowers. We think this design is a great way of celebrating the Royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan, and that is why of course, they sit proudly smiling at the top of this winning design.

Runner-up – Les Pivoines

Diana Toma- Les Pivoines

This subtly coloured traditional wedding cake was created by Diana Toma. This design has an extraordinary amount of royal icing work, taking the whole design to the next level. This use of royal icing shows off the range of designs and techniques you can create with just one medium. Sugar flowers tend to feature on many wedding cakes, the ones on Diana’s design are extremely life-like and every so pretty. We think this cake wouldn’t look out of place at any Royal wedding.

Runner-up – Academy 3D Cake

Agnieszka Partyka and Grzegorz Grabowski- Academy 3D Cake

Agnieszka and Grzegorz went all out with their Royal wedding cake design. Teaming bold blues with an enormous amount of gold detail, this design does not sit in the background. The hand-painted portrait of the couple makes this design very personal as well as including traditional symbols such as the crown topping the cake. We adore the way the icing has been draped to create regal curtains framing the couple and a delicate white flower.

A huge congratulations to our winners and thank you to everyone who entered!
