Kids Challenge – The Results Are In

This month we’re celebrating baking memories from childhood and how those early experiences in the kitchen with Mum or Nan can turn us into cake makers for life. We set a Kids Baking Challenge to some wonderful Mummy bloggers to make some delicious cakes with their children using Renshaw products. The team didn’t disappoint, just have a look at these brilliant cakes.
Rainbow Cupcakes
Jenny of Mummy Mishaps (http://www.mummymishaps.co.uk/2014/03/rainbow-cupcakes.html) and her sons created these fantastically colourful cupcakes, using our Primary Colour Multipacks. A simple sponge cake is topped with buttercream, a handful of mini marshmallows and then an icing rainbow, beautiful and easy to make with little ones.
Chocolate Fudge Cake Pops
Kids definitely love cake and they really love lollipops, so combining the two into a yummy chocolate fudge cake pop is a great idea. Emily, who runs the blog A Mummy Too (http://www.amummytoo.co.uk/2014/02/easy-and-delicious-chocolate-fudge-cake-pops-recipe/), decided to make these with her family using our Multi-Coloured Sprinkles and Colour Melts. The great thing about cake pops is that children get to roll the cake mix into balls and dip them into things, which they love doing.
Iced Shortbread
Making biscuits is always a good option when baking with kids, because as Laura of Chez Mummy (http://www.chezmummy.com/2014/02/iced-shortbread-biscuits/) points out, “anyone can make them and it’s hard to get it disastrously wrong”. The addition of our Ready To Roll Icing makes these tasty shortbread biscuits colourful and fun, which is what kids want when making (or eating) biscuits.
Almond Biscuits
Wanting to avoid those oh-so familiar biscuits baked in primary school that taste of flour and not much else, Debbie of Johnson Babies (http://www.johnsonbabies.co.uk/2014/03/creating-almond-biscuits-for-springtime.html) made these iced biscuits from a family recipe that includes almonds to make them tasty and moreish. The addition of our Sprinkles makes them extra cute and irresistible to kids of all ages.
Ready To Roll Icing Cupcake Toppers
Emily over at Family Four Fun (http://www.familyfourfun.co.uk/2014/03/we-love-icing.html) and her family decided to make some wonderful cupcake toppers from our Ready To Roll Icing. Emily’s love of baking started with her Granny, and now she’s helping her little ones to love cake making. They decided to place these onto a batch of simple vanilla cupcakes, but what base you choose is up to you.
