Flower Pot Cake by Juliet Sear

Tuesday 5th March 2013

At Renshaw, we think that this year, it would be lovely to return the favour and bake for your Mum this Mother’s Day, and for the coming Mothering Sunday, may just have found the perfect gesture.

Created by Juliet Sear, the author behind The Cake Decorating Bible and cake supplier to Fortnum & Mason and Harvey Nichols, we think this adorable floral-themed cake created especially for Renshaw Baking is almost too pretty to eat.

As well as running her own boutique bakery Fancy Nancy Cakes in Essex, Juliet’s innovative and forward thinking creations have been enjoyed by Fearne Cotton and Dizzee Rascal to name a few stars she has designed cakes for.

A fellow friend of The Cake and Bake Show, where she will be demonstrating this coming April at the Renshaw sponsored Sugarcraft Academy, it was no surprise that when taking inspiration for her Mother’s Day creation, Juliet challenged herself to make an intricately designed sugar paste covered cake.

From the carved sponge cake wrapped in a mixture of Renshaw Ready to Roll Icing colours, to the moulded worm and ladybird models, this Mother’s Day cake is all about the detail. Topped with Renshaw Chocolate Snip and Swirl to replicate soil and decorated with blossom-adorned cake pops made from a flower and modelling paste, it’s the perfect cake for sharing with the family.

With space for royal icing piped to write your own personal message and an edible bouquet to enjoy, we couldn’t think of a sweeter gesture to show your appreciation to your mum and with skills ranging from cake covering, modelling and cake pop making, a better way to show off the cake decorating skills you developed through learning from the main lady in your life.
