Colour Springs Eternal

Thursday 16th May 2013

After a long, cold winter there’s nothing more lovely that catching sight of the first cherry blossoms and crocuses as they break through and bring a burst of colour onto the springtime scene.

To celebrate the arrival of the season, here at Renshaw HQ we’ve been baking up a variety of recipes that showcase the colours of spring and bring to life the brightest of our 25 Ready to Roll Icing colours. From Daffodil Biscuit Pops, Bumblebee Cupcakes and celebration Daisy Cakes we have recipes and step by step instructions for you to try.

To keep us constantly inspired, we’re always on the lookout for new and creative cake decorating ideas. We’ve been on the hunt for sweet sugar paste creations that make the most of colour and bring the spirit of spring to life and here are some of our favourite bloggers Spring inspired ideas.

Butcher Baker

Pretty and bright, we love Jules from Butcher Baker’s sweet looking sugar paste modelled strawberries – we used a similar technique on our single tier cake. If you’re new to modelling, with Ready to Roll Icing and want some advice, Jules gives a great tutorial on how to make them over on her blog.

Adventures in Cake Decorating

If you’ve mastered strawberries and want to try your hand at the altogether more intricate flower, the super talented Adventures in Cake Decorating has a fantastic ruffle flower ‘how-to‘ over on her blog. We’re thinking about trying this with layers of different coloured Ready to Roll Icing to create a multi-coloured bloom effect.

Jessicakes

Pastels and prints are all over the catwalks for spring and there’s no reason why colour trends shouldn’t carry over to cakes! We absolutely adore Jessicakes’ Egyptian themed cake, showcasing the best pastel-hued sugar paste and piped icing in 2D. The use of jade green is simply stunning.

Sprinklebakes

When we’re talking about colours we simply can’t leave out the current trend for ombre! Bringing to life flesh and pink tones, Sprinklebakes‘s ruffled cake inspired by a ball gown is so beautiful and the detail carries across evenly to every slice. Gorgeous!
