Celebration Cake Business of the Year 2015

Thursday 10th September 2015

The winner of Celebration Cake Business of the Year 2015 has been announced at the Baking Industry Awards, Wednesday 9th September. The title went to Brown’s Cakes who were presented with their award by host Claudia Winkleman and Renshaw’s Robin Mountain.

The theme of this year’s awards ceremony was Studio 54, and the finalists in the Celebration Cake Business category were challenged to create a show-stopping cake in this theme.

Winner – Brown’s Cakes

Brown’s Cakes were praised by the judges for the family feel to their small but growing business. Each of the modelled figures on their cake had a different character and expression, and excellent research on the theme was executed to a very high standard in their attention to detail and beautifully balanced design.

Runner Up – Zoe’s Fancy Cakes

The competition entry from Zoe’s Fancy Cakes demonstrated exceptional figure modelling and a high quality finish, and was supported with helpful step-by-step methods and YouTube tutorials.

Runner Up – Finsbury Food Group

The detail on Finsbury Food Group’s cake was a “feast for the eyes” for the judges, who loved the range of techniques demonstrated and the vibrant colours used. The judges were also impressed with the internal training school that FFG run for their staff, and enjoyed seeing how everything was made from start to finish.

We’ve loved seeing the Studio 54 designs in this year’s competition. Have you ever created something in this theme? Share it with us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
