Baking Industry Awards 2019: Enter Now

Friday 22nd February 2019

Calling all cake decorating businesses! ?

Entries for the Baking Industry Awards are now open, and we’re proud to be sponsoring the ‘Celebration Cake Business of the Year’ category for the 15th year running. That’s 15 years of celebrating the achievements of cake decorating businesses and sharing their inspirational work with the world.

If you’re just hearing about the Baking Industry Awards, or have been wanting to enter but are unsure, then we hope we can convince you to enter.

The Awards celebrate innovation and achievement and recognise excellence in the UK bakery market, and we know from experience there are an incredible amount of talented cake decorating businesses out there.

Imagine at the end of 12 month’s hard work you were awarded the title of ‘Celebration Cake Business of the Year’! ? Not only does the award recognise your achievements, but being a winner or finalist can;

  • Deliver profile and exposure for you and your company,
  • Reward and motivate your team,
  • Help generate new business.

There’s also the added bonus of £750 prize money and £250 worth of Renshaw Baking and Rainbow Dust products for the winner, which is quite nice, isn’t it! ?

So what’s involved when you enter?

[Semi-finalists, 2017]

First of all, get yourself registered at the Baking Industry Awards website, so you can complete the entry form.

Entrants are given the opportunity to;

  • Showcase their business and creative cake decorating skills (examples of past work, business model, training, future plans),
  • Semi-finalists are given a themed practical cake decorating task,
  • Semi-finalists are invited to the Renshaw Academy to take part in a ‘live judging’ day and a tour of the Renshaw factory,
  • 3 finalists are invited to the Awards evening in London on 4th September 2019,
  • The winner receives an award as well as £750 prize money and £250 worth of Renshaw and Rainbow Dust products.

Independent Judges

[Suzanne Thorp, The Frostery]

[Sonia Young, British Baker]

Each year we invite independent judges to the Academy to review the entries and themed cakes by our semi-finalists.

This year we’re excited to announce that Suzanne Thorp of The Frostery and star of Channel 4’s Extreme Cake Makers will be joining us as a judge! Suzanne is a visionary cake artist and instructor who has been creating cakes professionally for over twenty years. She is one of Cake Masters magazine’s top ten cake artists of 2018 and is best known for her beautifully detailed, award-winning wedding cakes using traditional techniques with modern artistic expression.

We’ll also be joined once more by Sonia Young, publisher for the British Baker, the only B2B magazine dedicated to the bakery industry.
